Personal Web Pages A personal web page is available as a part of each traceroad.net account. These web pages must be set up before they can be used. Initial Setup You must use a telnet application to establish your personal web home page before content can be added. If you are using a Windows computer, a telnet application can be started by selecting Start, then Run and typing "telnet services.infoave.net" without the quotes in the window labeled "Open." Click OK. After entering your Internet access login (user) name and password, you will see the Internet Enhanced Terminal Services menu. You may see the user terms and conditions agreement page if this is your first time to access this page. You may scroll down this agreement page using the down arrow key (↓) to read the entire text or you may exit this page by simultaneously using the Ctrl and Z keys. Use your keyboard arrow keys to move to TOOLS and select by pressing your ENTER key. Select WWWDIR from the next page in the same way. You will be asked if you want to create a personal web site directory. Hit the Y key and then the ENTER key. You will be asked to enter a title for your personal web page. This will have the form "Home Page of (whatever you enter)" when you enter the title. You can enter an email address if you wish. Several messages will print and you can exit from the menu and terminate (by typing "exit" at a prompt) your telnet session. These instructions are also available at http://www.infoave.net/support/activate-pws.html. The above steps create a web page with the default name index.html at http://web.traceroad.net/~username, where username is your login (user) name. You can check this by entering this URL into your web browser. The next step is to create and upload your customized web page content. Instructions for doing this can be reached from the web page you created (http://web.traceroad.net/~username) and at http://www.infoave.net/support/activate-pws.html. You may wish to try other types of software, like Front Page Express, Front Page or other web authoring applications to create and manage your personal web site. |
