Broadband DSL Internet Access Broadband DSL data services are available to Smithville telephone area. The service is not available outside the Smithville area. Performance Our tests show download rates at 10 to 15 times that possible with a 56 kbps modem. Performance is a function of the sites accessed, the user's computer, distance between the user and our central office, and the amount of congestion on the Internet. The service is "always on" when the computer is powered on, so there is no need to make a call to connect to the Internet. Pricing We are now offering three different high speed Internet (DSL) plans. Your service location will determine which plans would be available to you.
What's Included? Residential DSL service includes the high speed line, the required modem, a dedicated IP address, and a traceroad.net Internet account. Access to other Internet providers is not supported. Multiple computers can be connected to the DSL line using additional equipment provided by the customer. The modem remains telephone company property and must be returned if the service is disconnected. System Requirements Computers used with the DSL service must have a 10 Base-T Ethernet NIC installed. Purchase and installation of this interface card is the customer's responsibility. For best performance, computers with 300 MHz or faster processors are recommended, and some adjustment of TCP/IP parameters in the computer will also be necessary for best performance. A conventional 120 vac power outlet is necessary for the modem. |
